Mission Statement
My role as the Aboriginal Community Field Officer
is to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal community members,
liaise with Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal organisations
and schools as far south as Macksville through to Corindi
Beach in the north of Coffs Harbour.
Aims and Objectives
To provide a support service, information and referral
service to Aboriginal families and children within an
area that extends to Macksville/Bowraville, north to
Corindi and west to Ebor which enhances the opportunity
for them to participate fully in the life of our community.
Liaise with families who attend the Coffs Harbour Aboriginal
Family Community Care Centre for assistance and to visit
them in their homes.
Provide information to families and clients, especially
to children in at risk situations.
Liaise with officers of government departments and
Community based services to advocate for clients.
Network with Government and community based services
to identify gaps in services and to enhance Aboriginal
participation in decision making about services.
Attend meetings, workshops and conferences on behalf
of the Centre or upon the community requests and report
back to the Administrator on issues outlined at such
discussion groups.
Organise and promote outings and gatherings for the
community, gain sponsorship and prepare submissions
for funding.
This position involves advocating for community members
on a range of issues including both public and private
housing, financial assistance, family issues, education,
health and other needs community members may have.

By being out there and listening to the community we
will get a full understanding of community needs and
wants.
Hearing and listening to young children and the problems
they face in today’s society will give us insight.
Working with families in their respective communities
by visiting their homes.
Consistent work practices provides for a better understanding
with community members and staff.
Helping families and young people to understand Government
Policies and Procedures.
The Aboriginal Field Officer will visit your community
for you to speak with him about family issues and housing
