Social
Support
Mission Statement
To advocate on behalf of, provide regular social
activities / outings for, and assist elderly and young
disabled Aboriginal people and their carer’s to
remain in their own homes, and enjoy a comfortable,
health and holistic lifestyle.
The aim of the Aboriginal Social Support Program is
to provide a service that encourages the aged/frail
and people with disabilities to remain within their
communities, rather than premature institutionalization
due to the lack of care of family and social support
networks. The Department of Aging, Disability and Homecare
fund the program.
We organize regular Social Support activities for the
Elderly Aboriginal and people with a disability and
their carers in the Coffs Harbour area. We provide information
about the range of support services available and arrange
for service provision to you as needed. We can also
establish a liaison and refer you onto other relevant
services.
We provide crisis support and service to you where
ever necessary. We look at the needs of the Aboriginal
Community and provide advocacy to ensure Aboriginal
people have access to health and community services.
